The fully integrated Standby and Backup Power Systems are designed to supply uninterrupted power for basic and sensitive loads such as security systems, computer systems, sump pumps and furnace fans. The Standby and Backup Power System will act as a battery charger keeping battery storage bank fully charged when utility power is available. When the primary power source of AC power fails (power outage), the system becomes an inverter that converts the battery power into a fine utility-grade AC power. The transfer is completely automatic and transparent to the user. The Standby Power Systems are capable of charging from solar-electric modules and/or generator using an optional charge controller with a DC circuit breaker. The internal microprocessor protects the batteries against overcharging and automatically disconnects the solar array at night. The Standby and Backup Power Systems are available in eighteen models ranging from 2 kWh - 40 kWh battery capacity. The unit also features an AC lighting arrestor and an AC input surge capacitor. Please note that a licensed electrician must install the Standby and Backup Power Systems. The battery bank of valve-regulated, deep-cycled, lead-acid batteries is separated from the inverter/charger by a 250 A DC circuit breaker. The circuit breaker acts as a disconnect and protects against the extremely high battery currents in case of a short-circuit. A battery temperature sensor, included for installation within the battery bank, feeds a signal back to the inverter/charger to automatically adjust battery charge voltage. A 500 A, 50 mV shunt is also provided for battery current flow measurements. Options:
